Anxiety Relief

General Anxiety Disorders :

Before starting to explain how and why these disorders are linked, the great Anxiety Relief thing to note is that hypnotherapy is incredibly successful and really fast in treating all these disorders and allowing you to live your life free from fear and its symptoms.

All of the following disorders are fed by fear by using Analytical Hypnotherapy and EFT we break the cycle of fear and get to the root cause of your anxieties, dealing with them so they cannot bother you again.

After an initial consultation, a personalised programme is devised for you which will take anything between 8-12 sessions depending on severity of your condition, you can have your life back .

I would suggest reading all the information as these disorders are linked, but you can, if you wish, go straight to the section you are interested in by clicking on the links.

anxiety related disorders

There are five major anxiety disorders which are all linked to the flight or fight response:

You may be suffering from one or more of these. People can suffer panic with any of the anxiety disorders. There are no rules for the pattern of these linked conditions.

Our cavemen ancestors were not only hunters but also the hunted. We were the potential prey of many wild animals. It is a function of our brain to make all resources available to us in times of great danger and to make them available instantly. The parts of our brains responsible for this are the amygdala and the hypothalamus. It was necessary in those times to be able to fight quite ferociously or to be able to run very fast to escape. For us to be able to do this, large amounts of Noradrenaline are released into our bodies.

Nowadays though we do not need to run or fight, yet we have all this adrenalin surging through our bodies without any means of discharging it. It is the adrenalin and our readiness to run or fight which creates very unpleasant physical symptoms:

Increased heart rate, sometimes racing or palpitations

Sweating

Shaking visibly or shaking inside

Choking sensations

Chest pain or discomfort

Nausea or abdominal discomfort or diarrhoeaAnxiety Relief

Dizziness

Feeling light-headed

Feeling detached or unreal

Fear of going crazy/losing control

Numbness or tingling sensations

Chills or hot flushes

Feelings of tightness/pain in the head

Neck and shoulder pain or numbness in the face and head

Nightmares

If you experience at least four of the symptoms listed means that you are most probably having a panic attack, less than four and it is more likely to be generalised anxiety. Panic attacks can happen with any of the five anxiety-related disorders.

These physical symptoms are really unpleasant but it is important to realise that no-one has ever died of these symptoms – they are just feelings.

Generalised anxiety or free-floating anxiety affects many people and there is often no specific reason for their anxiety. They feel real fear and apprehension, feelings of worry and tension, vague dread persisting in the absence of any actual danger. Individuals suffering from this experience long-term anxiety, with no apparent explanation for its cause.

It is likely to include physiological responses, changes in heart rate, trembling, dizziness and tensions, which may range widely in severity and can sometimes, in cases of extreme anxiety, become a full panic attack.

The reason why the person with anxiety has no idea why he or she feels afraid is because the source of the fear is not known consciously. This type of anxiety can ruin lives, leaving you feeling desperate and depressed.Analytical Hypnotherapy & EFT  relieves these feelings and takes away the root cause of the anxiety.

panic attacks

These are characterised by sudden and intense fear, anxiety or doom. There are three types of panic attacks:

                                                     Spontaneous panic

                                                     Specific panic

                                                     Situational panic

Spontaneous panic attacks come without any warning and can happen at any time, regardless of situation or place. They can even happen during sleep, waking you up.

come without any warning and can happen at any time, regardless of situation or place. They can even happen during sleep, waking you up.

What has happened is that the minute you experience one or more of the symptoms of anxiety, your immediate reaction is to panic and as you panic so more of the symptoms are felt and the more you panic. So, a vicious cycle is set – you fear the attacks and because you fear them, you start to feel anxious, as you feel anxious, you panic.

These physical symptoms are really unpleasant but it is important to realise that no-one has ever died of these symptoms – they are just feelings. Specific panic attacks are just as described. The panic attack comes on as a result of a specific situation, place or flashbacks and they are fed as above, by fear of the feelings of anxiety and fear of the subsequent panic attack.

Situational panic attacks happen in certain situations – it is important to note though, that it is not the situation that brings them on, it is the fear of the anxiety caused by the situation.

Some people become very good at avoiding situations in which they fear they might panic. I have met many sufferers who don’t tell family or friends what is troubling them and take on a life of making excuses. They often find themselves cutting and running when they fear an attack is imminent and this puts a tremendous strain on them and their friendships/relationships.

Hypnotherapy and EFT puts you back in control, breaking the cycle of fear and taking away the root cause of the anxiety.

phobias

There are two types of phobias; social phobia and specific phobia. Social phobia is where a person feels a disabling fear or being looked at, embarrassed or generally humiliated in social situations which can eventually lead to agoraphopbia. Someone suffering from panic attacks can eventually become a social phobic.

A phobia is an excessive fear of a particular object or situation which usually has no basis in reality

Specific phobias are characterised by specific fears. They are often extreme and disabling. They can be quite irrational and there are as many phobias as there are objects in this world – virtually anything can become the object of a phobia. Some typical phobias are:

Agoraphobia, the fear of open spaces

Claustrophobia, the fear of enclosed spaces

Hydrophobia, the fear of water

Pathophobia, the fear of disease

Emetophobia, the fear of being sick

,

Arachnophobia, the fear of spiders

,

Aviatophobia, the fear of flying

,

The phobic person will carefully avoid any potential contact with their fear and the resulting feelings of fear and panic. This leads to a limited life with all that goes with it; depending on the type of phobia it can sometimes result in it being difficult to work and loss of income, difficult or strained relationships, and all the other potential implications of living a life of avoidance.
It is important, as with generalised anxiety and panic attacks, to discover and treat the root cause of the phobia – it is quick and easy to take away a phobia but if you have not treated the root cause, this may result in the phobia returning or another phobia or anxiety-related symptom to be created.
Hypnotherapy and EFT takes away the distressing and disabling symptoms of your phobic response and treats the root cause of the phobia.

post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder, sometimes called, post-traumatic distress, can follow an occurrence of extreme psychological stress, such as that encountered in war or resulting from violence (particularly where there is a threat of death, or actual death of others), childhood abuse, sexual abuse, or serious accident. The stressful event is usually followed by a period of emotional numbness and denial that can last for months or years. After that period, symptoms such as recurring nightmares, "flashbacks," short-term memory problems, insomnia, panic attacks and severe anxiety are common in post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hypnotherapy and EFT takes away the distressing flashbacks enabling you to sleep. Panic attacks cease and your feelings surrounding the original incident/s change in a very positive way. People suffering from PTSD can once again reclaim their lives.

obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

OCD is the name given to a condition which is both obsessive and compulsive; the person has conscious or sub-conscious thoughts which create either recurring ideas (obsessions) or irresistible impulses to act in certain ways (compulsions), or both.
An obsession is an idea derived from a feared situation or event, and it sometimes arises out of a phobia. Compulsions are actions that must be performed, even though they may not have any value in and of themselves. Compulsions often have a ritualistic character. The classic example of compulsive behaviour is repeated hand-washing, but touching rituals, counting sequences, checking, and many other ritualistic behavioural patterns fall into this category. A compulsion may be experienced as a command like "Go and wash your hands," or as a threat like "You will spread disease if you don't wash your hands."
These compulsive rituals associated with OCD can seriously and quite destructively interfere with normal life and are sometimes accompanied with other anxiety disorders such as agoraphobia and panic disorder.
Hypnotherapy and EFT help to disarm the thoughts which OCD creates, distracting the mind away from the old destructive thought patterns to new habits. Once again, the root cause is looked for
